42 Commando Royal Marines Strengthen Ties with the China Fleet Trust

On Wednesday 11 March, the Commanding Officer of 42 Commando Royal Marines, Lieutenant Colonel Tom Quinn RM, visited the China Fleet Country Club accompanied by his Headquarters team. The visit provided an opportunity to learn more about the charity’s work in supporting the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, and to further reinforce the already strong relationship between 42 Commando, the China Fleet Trust, and the Club.

Over recent years, 42 Commando has developed a close connection with the charity, offering valued fundraising support, while the Trust has established a dedicated welfare fund for the unit. This fund enables Royal Marines and their families to access tailored wellbeing support, helping to sustain morale, resilience, and family life during demanding operational cycles.

Following the presentation and tour, the visitors went on to enjoy an afternoon of competitive sport on the golf course, further strengthening bonds in an informal and good‑spirited setting.

The Assistant Adjutant of 42 Commando shared positive reflections on the day:

“It was a fantastic day from start to finish. The initial brief on the complex components that make up the Trust — its affiliations, structure, and extensive involvement in supporting the Naval Service — was extremely well received and certainly an education for myself and others.

I have had nothing but great feedback about the day, along with a genuine appetite for increased engagement from serving members and their families. Going forward, we will improve the flow of information across the Unit so that everyone in 42 Commando is fully aware of the support the China Fleet Trust can offer.”

The China Fleet Trust looks forward to deepening this partnership further, continuing to provide meaningful support to the men and women of 42 Commando Royal Marines and their families.
