The HMS Oardacious Valkyries—the first-ever all-women Royal Navy team to row across any ocean—completed the World’s Toughest Row on 27 January 2025, after 46 days, 12 hours, and 26 minutes at sea. They covered 3,000 miles from San Sebastián de La Gomera (Canary Islands) to Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua, battling 40-foot waves, sleep deprivation, and extreme conditions along the way.
The Trust and CFCC Ltd were proud to sponsor HMS Oardacious this year again; HMS Oardacious raises funds primarily to support mental health and wellbeing initiatives for the Royal Navy Submarine Service community, including serving personnel, veterans, and their families. The money goes toward projects that provide quick and easy access to mental health support, especially during the demanding deployment cycle.
Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC): A major beneficiary, funding programs that improve morale and welfare for sailors, marines, and their families. Submarine Family Network: Coordinates benevolence, commemoration, and heritage projects for the submarine community.
For the Valkyries campaign, funds also supported the Young Women’s Trust, promoting opportunities for women in underrepresented fields like STEM, both inside and outside the Royal Navy
