Royal Navy Retain Men’s Inter Services Rugby Title

The China Fleet Trust is delighted to celebrate the Royal Navy’s outstanding success in the Men’s Inter Services Rugby Championships, where the Senior Service secured back‑to‑back titles with a thrilling victory over the British Army.

Played in front of a vociferous crowd of 50,000 at the Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, the Royal Navy dominated the early stages of the match, playing with pace, control and attacking intent. The Army regrouped after the interval and mounted a powerful comeback, levelling the scores at 36–36. However, the Royal Navy once again demonstrated their depth and resilience, with a decisive late try from Jack Wright sealing a hard‑fought and well‑deserved win.

Throughout the contest, the Royal Navy consistently appeared to have another gear, and their performance reflected the quality, preparation and cohesion within the squad. The victory secured the second successive Inter Services Championship, following an earlier commanding 47–16 win over the Royal Air Force at the Cinch Stadium, Franklin Gardens.

The China Fleet Country Club was pleased to support the Royal Navy men during their campaign, hosting elements of the senior men’s training camp and providing a welcome opportunity for rest and recuperation ahead of the RAF fixture. We are proud to have played a small part in supporting the team’s preparation and cohesion during a highly successful Inter Services campaign.

In the women’s competition, the Royal Navy faced strong opposition, with the Army securing a resounding 78–0 victory. Despite the scoreline, the Royal Navy women continued to battle throughout the match and emerged with credit for their determination and commitment. This followed an earlier defeat against the RAF, but the squad’s perseverance and professionalism were evident across the tournament.

The China Fleet Trust congratulates all Royal Navy players, coaches and support staff involved in this year’s Inter Services competitions. Inter‑Service sport remains a vital part of Service life, fostering resilience, teamwork and wellbeing, and we are proud to continue supporting Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel and their families, both on and off the field.
