China Fleet Trust and China Fleet Country Club marked the start of Armed Forces Day Week on Monday 22 June 2026 with their annual flag-raising ceremony, led by Rear Admiral John Weale CB OBE, Chair of Trustees of the China Fleet Trust.
In a simple but meaningful ceremony, representatives from HMS Drake’s Personnel Support Group, HMS Raleigh’s Ship’s Company and Command Team, together with Trust and Company representatives from the Club, gathered to witness the raising of the Armed Forces Day Flag and to recognise the contribution and sacrifice of the men and women of the Armed Forces.
The event officially launched a week of national celebrations and serves as an important reminder of the dedication of those who serve in the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force, both at home and overseas.
As a military charity with deep roots in the Royal Navy community, China Fleet Country Club is proud to support and celebrate the Armed Forces family. The annual flag-raising ceremony is an important fixture in the Club’s calendar, highlighting the vital role our Armed Forces play in protecting the security, freedoms and way of life enjoyed throughout the United Kingdom.
The Club extends its gratitude to all serving personnel, veterans, reservists and military families for their continued service and commitment.
Rear Admiral John Weale CB OBE, Chair of Trustees of the China Fleet Trust, said:
“Armed Forces Day provides an important opportunity for us to recognise and thank the men and women of our Armed Forces, past and present, for their commitment, professionalism and sacrifice. As a military charity with strong links to the Royal Navy and the wider Armed Forces community, China Fleet Trust and China Fleet Country Club are proud to begin this week of national celebration by raising the Armed Forces Day Flag and reaffirming our enduring support for those who serve, and for their families.”
Gordon Hannah, Chief Executive Officer of the China Fleet Trust, added:
“This ceremony is a visible reminder of the debt of gratitude we owe to serving personnel, veterans, reservists and military families, whose dedication helps protect the freedoms and security we all enjoy. As a charity founded to support the Royal Navy community, we remain committed to providing facilities, opportunities and support that strengthen the wellbeing of those who serve, those who have served, and their loved ones.”
